K5.1m for rehabilitation work on Malendok and Boeng roads

The New Ireland Provincial Government has signed a contract worth K5.1 m with NGI Suppliers for rehabilitation works on Malendok and Boeng roads of the Tanga Islands in the Tanir LLG, Namatanai District.

Construction work involves graveling, widening and Associated drainage works on the 19.22km Malendok Island road worth K2.4 million and the 24.304 km Boeng Island Road worth K 2.7 million.

During the signing, New Ireland Acting Provincial Administrator Moses Taram said the projects are part of the Provincial Government’s Policy of “The Further You Are, The More We Care”.

He said the signing will signify the start of the project.

Provincial Works Manager Collen Dickson said the project is the biggest investment by the Provincial Government to the people of Tanga island.

Mr. Dickson told the contractor that the provincial government will scrutinize their work to ensure that the project is delivered to the highest standard for the people of Tanga island.

Witnessing the contract signing was New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan, Deputy Governor Sammy Missen, Chairman for Infrastructure and Works Andrew Minkiong and NIPG Special Projects officer Lathan Salatiel.
